New prospects arise from the Kyoto Protocol concerning the management of agricultural and forest resources in the future,as a consequence of their importance on containing CO2 in the atmosphere,responsable for climate change.
The worldwide dimension of climate change requests a transnational approach and CADSES
area is an excellent application case considering the dimension and the range of agricultural
and forest systems.
Overall long term objectives are:
- To assess the characteristics of the main agricultural and forest systems of CADSES area in relationship with the strategies set up by Kyoto Protocol and evaluate the sinking capability
- To define strategies and techniques for improving the management of agricultural and forest systems of the CADSES area to obtain best environmental/economic results
- To provide for elements useful for orienting the planning documents of CADSES countries concerning the management of agricultural and forest systems and promote a sustainable development
